Badminton

What do you think the fastest racket sport in the world is?  It's not tennis and it's not racketball, it's actually badminton.  But don't let that fool you, you can still play safely with the whole family.  Badminton has been around for a LONG time and was thought of to be invented by the Chinese as far as 500 B.C.  In 1992 it made it's debut in the Olympics and has been there ever since.  The game is played all across the USA now with many High Schools having their own Badminton teams even.

A badminton game usually is the best of three games. Toss a coin to determine which side you are playing on, and the winner of the toss either serves first or pick an end of the court. In traditional scoring format, only the serving side can score and the winning team needs 15 points in doubles and men's singles, or 11 in women's singles. In the new Rally Point scoring format that just recently adopted and used for major tournaments, whoever won the rally scores a point and the winning team needs 21 points to win the match.

For complete rules you can check out a few different websites.  Badminton can be an absolutely great game to play with the family though.  You can play in doubles or you can play singles.  It's very easy to setup because you can purchase a combo badminton/volleyball net and kill two birds with one stone! You can even setup little tournaments with a champion crowned every night.  This is a great one for the family!

If badmiton isn't your game then I'd try out cornhole.  It requires the same number of players, but it's a little less exhausting.  All you need are some cornhole bags and a set of cornhole boards.
