Washers
The Game of washers is a game
very close to Cornhole
in theory. It is a game of pitching that can be
easily understood by almost anyone and can be played by
young and old alike. As far as backyard
games go washers is a great way to spend time with
your family and friends with relatively easy set up and
clean up.
The game of washers
can be played in a few different ways. One is with
two washer
boxes at each end with a cup right in the middle.
In this type of washers is played with two boxes set
approximately twenty-one feet apart from the
other, however you can place the boxes wherever you please
if you are accommodating children or others that may need
closer ranges for tossing. Washers are used to toss
into the boxes which are usually a square 20 x 20 inches.
Inside each box is a cup at the middle or a circle if the
washer lands in the box but not in the cup or circle area the
participant earns one point. If the washer lands on the
line or side of the cup the person tossing it gets three points
and in the cup or circle earns the participant five points.
The other way
to play washers is again with a couple sets of wooden boards
but with 3 holes cut in them
vertically. It's the same type of scoring, of
course, except that the closest hole is one point,
middle is 3 points and the furthest is 5
points. This is very similiar to cornhole
or horseshoes.
T
he
game of washers (or pitching washers as some people call
it) can be played as a one on one game or you can
team up and play with a partner against another 2.
It is a great game for your BBQ or
family events for several reasons. The first
is it's easy to setup or cleanup after; there you don't
have to mess around with picking up or ruining your lawn
like when you play horseshoes. Another reason this
is a popular game and it's easy to enjoy and
can become a fun family tradition for get together.
The equipment can be made yourself or purchased
inexpensively at many department and online
stores.
